Heart of the Horse 2023
USDA stats have documented over 90 percent of horses that ship to slaughter for human consumption are young and healthy. Kill buyers will also tell you that the larger untrained horses bring more $ per pound and a trained horse, regardless of size brings more money if sold as a riding horse to a private buyer. We’ve sent word to local horse traders that we want them to give us a chance to buy those that they would normally ship due to lack of training. These are a few of those whose lives would have ended horridly in a slaughter plant somewhere but will now become someone’s riding partner, heart horse and someone’s dream come true!
Now to find their training partners! The more trainers we can get signed up, the more young, healthy, untrained horses we can save. Horses that most people would love to have….IF only they were trained.
