We are always looking for dedicated people that share our love for horses. Whether you are a horse trainer or just someone that loves horses there are ways you can become involved.

Why we Need Your Help for Our Residents

 The rescue is blessed to have so many people who genuinely care about the horses! From the daily tasks of cleaning the stalls, grooming, learning the training methods, foster homes, and raising the money necessary to keep the rescue running daily, volunteers keep all the wheels working for the love of all these rescues. MHR can always find a special place for anyone who has that desire to help these rescued equines have happier lives. If you have the time, we have the perfect place for you.

Barn Chores
Barn ChoresCleaning stalls, pasture clean up, water buckets, filling hay nets and other activities that don't require you to handle the horses.

Grooming
GroomingHorses always need to be groomed especially in the summertime when they are shedding their winter coats. This requires a volunteer to have experience with handling horses. We do have days when we invite families to come out to the barn with hands-on supervised activities.

Riding & Training
Riding & TrainingMost of our horses need additional training to ensure they are ready to find their forever home. The more time we spend with them whether it's on the ground teaching manners or in the saddle, the easier it is for us to match them with the appropriate owner. To assist with riding and training you must have several years experience handling horses.
Marketing & Fundraising
Marketing & FundraisingFund raising is an important part of our operations. We have various events throughout the year that require volunteer workers. Type of work can be manning a booth to soliciting sponsorships. Any talent that you may have including web maintenance, writing and photography is always appreciated.

Heidirun and Snowman are the best of friends.

Kymberly
Kymberly did not take long after her move to Madison to find the rescue and to start volunteering.
Dave and Fancy
Dave is always ready to help out with projects. More importantly, Dave is helping heal these rescues with magna wave to relieve inflammation

Alex Parkman has been spending much of her summer thus far at the rescue. On this day, she brought her dad who saw some down fencing and did not hesitate to jump right in and fix them.

Big man, Randy, with the smallest and newest rescue and her cutie pie filly. After putting them in their stall, Randy headed out to bushhog the back 40 and smile even with the blistering heat wave.
