The Safe Horse Project will give these horses a fresh chance at a new life.
Many MHR horses do not fit the necessary criteria to be part of the trainer’s challenge. However, the SHP is including these Diamond Project horses in their own category. These horses may have been trained in another life or older than 12 years old. MHR has recently acquired several good looking horses that qualify as Diamond Horses. Mesha (meaning deliverance) and her protector Shad (meaning warrior), seemed to know they were in a bad place. They are slowly beginning to relax but the geldings still protect what appears to be their little sister. Soon they will realize they are all safe, and will never have to worry again. They will find their training partner who will give them the peace and confidence they need to make it in our world. #mhrmesha#mhrshad
Loretta Lynn is the SWEETEST of horses. Only 10 years old, she was headed to a commercial breeding farm to be a surrogate mare. We think she’s better off being someone’s heart horse. Rapper is simply the cutest. He had a hernia so I guess his owner didn’t want to spend the $1,000 on the surgery. We thought his life was worth it and so did you! Dawson and his two sorrel buddies were lucky that the truck shipping that morning had a full load. The trader wasn’t planning on showing them to us because they were “wild”. But they are exactly the type of horses we are hoping to give a second chance. #mhrdawson
Dutton is a BIG boy! If he could have been ridden, the trader could have gotten a good penny for him, but the time and money he would have to put into getting him under saddle would take months and thousands of dollars. Same with Maverick! The trader kept his bay roan half brother to send to a trainer but with his “plain” looks, he didn’t want to risk putting the money into him.
